Adapting to a new context without losing our core

On May 16th, 2020, we temporarily closed our offices due to the imminent progression of the pandemic in our beloved Chile. Like many others, we truly believed that we’d meet again in 15 days. However, days went by and the sanitary situation worsened. We rapidly adapted to this context, looking for alternatives that would let us respond to it. Our premise from day one has always been the same: to look after the health of our human team, guaranteeing at the same time the best possible service to our clients.

What we’ve done so far has resulted in a valuable learning experience, professional as well as personal. We’d like to share it with you, as we strongly believe that the exchange with others can strengthen our sense of community.

Teleworking: a new reality

As we became aware of the need to work remotely, we first collected useful information about our employees’ communications and connectivity needs. Following that, we started a resource provision phase: computers, ergonomic chairs, desks, and in some cases internet services, among other essential elements. Under this new scenario, our staff adapted smoothly to the requirements of teleworking. Virtuality arrived to our lives and taught us that physical presence is not as necessary as we thought for undertaking our daily job responsibilities.

Of course, we look forward to once again sharing our daily work routine with our colleagues. But until that day arrives, you can rest assured that we are prepared to respond in the best possible way.

Going out to the field

At Satelnet, our office and laboratory work is just a part of our daily labors.  A considerable portion of our activities takes place in the field, making connections and implementing technological solutions in all of the geography of Southern Chile. With this in mind, we redefined our methodology in order to guarantee the quality of our services. We also incorporated new habits, like social distancing, the use of alcohol gel and face masks, frequent hand washing, and internal control when entering and leaving the premises.  This allowed us to continue delivering a service of excellence to our clients while looking after our people’s health and keeping traceability of our movements.

We also conduct regular preventive PCR tests, aimed towards an early detection of any eventual contagion in our staff.  Fortunately, we haven’t had any positive Covid-19 cases up to this moment. Should this happen, we can rely on a safe protocol that guarantees the best course of action.

Our clients, our priority

In this new scenario, we adapted our way of working in order to provide our clients with the services that they need.  That’s why, in addition to guaranteeing the existing links, we expanded the bandwidth to address new needs for conexion.

All these changes required flexibility and adaptation, but we’re satisfied because our essence has remained intact.  As Chileans, we’re sure that we’ll overcome these challenging times. In the meantime, at Satelnet we continue honoring our commitment to delivering solutions, so that tomorrow finds us in a better place, stronger and united.
